Application: Large dome theater
Yantai, Shandong · Kongtong Shengjing’s 60-meter giant LED indoor spherical screen is powered by a comprehensive LED dome display solution provided by Shenzhen Zhongrun Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. With a diameter of 60 meters and an LED display area of approximately 5,300 square meters, the project was meticulously crafted over 180 days and officially opened on July 28th, aiming to become a new cultural tourism landmark in Shandong and one of Asia’s largest spherical screen projects.
This is not merely a “larger LED dome screen,” but rather an integrated technology-driven cultural tourism system that combines ultra-large-scale LED displays, mechanical synchronization, immersive visuals, stage performances, and digital interactivity.
From 360° to 720°: Redefining Immersive Experience Beyond Traditional Spherical Screens
The project breaks away from conventional single-dome formats by deeply integrating LED domes, ring-shaped LED screens, digital floor displays, mechanical interactive installations, and an embedded 6-meter-diameter openable interactive sphere screen.
Visitors stepping inside no longer experience just a traditional 360-degree wraparound screen, but instead enter a seamless 720-degree immersive environment created by dual internal and external spheres, the dome ceiling, ground surface, and ring displays—transforming the space from a passive viewing platform into an active, immersive visual world.
Ultra-large Scale + Complex Mechanical Integration: Pushing the Limits of LED Dome Technology
The 60-meter giant dome houses numerous complex mechanical systems, including eight sets of irregularly shaped lift-and-open LED panels, multiple independent suspension points with 3D wire systems, six mechanically opening ring-screen doors, and ten groups of intelligent lifting floor displays.
The display system must achieve millisecond-level coordination with lifting, opening, rotating, and wire-based mechanisms, placing extremely high demands on structural integrity, display control, mechanical reliability, and overall stability.
Notably, the ten intelligent lifting floor displays support not only 360-degree visualization but also tilting motion, incorporating mechanical aerial ladder interactions directly into the display system—marking a breakthrough from conventional “floor display” to true “spatial interaction.”
This means Zhongrun Optoelectronic delivered not just an LED display product, but a full-system solution encompassing dome structure, LED panel design, mechanical integration, and intelligent control.
Lightweight Sound-Penetrating Design: Balancing Display and Performance for Giant Screens
To meet the structural load requirements and ensure optimal audio-visual integration for this 60-meter super-sized dome, the project employs custom ultra-thin LED panels weighing as little as 8.5 kg per square meter, significantly reducing the load on the massive dome structure.
Additionally, transparent sound-permeable LED technology is used, achieving a 50% aperture rate and less than 5% sound transmission loss, with audio-video synchronization error controlled within 0.02 seconds. This enables seamless integration between the LED display system, live sound, and stage performances, delivering a truly immersive “sound-as-life” experience.
High-End Display Technology: Delivering 8K-Level Immersive Visuals
The project features advanced display technologies including high refresh rates, high grayscale, high contrast, and wide color gamut. With a maximum refresh rate of 7,680 Hz, 16-bit grayscale precision, a contrast ratio of 10,000:1, and an NTSC color gamut exceeding 90%, it achieves 8K ultra-high-definition resolution, offering exceptionally detailed, smooth, and lifelike visuals across the vast spherical space.
Moreover, the display panels use parallel architecture, ensuring that even if a single LED fails, it does not affect other areas. Combined with front-and-back maintenance access and rapid heat dissipation via power modules, the system further enhances long-term stability and maintenance efficiency for large-scale dome projects.
Designed for Challenging Environments: Ensuring Long-Term Stability of Large-Scale Domes
Located on an island, the Kongtong Shengjing project faces harsh environmental conditions such as high humidity and salt spray. To address these challenges, Zhongrun Optoelectronic implemented specialized anti-moisture, dust-proof, and anti-salt-fog measures from the initial design phase. Through comprehensive optimization of structure, materials, and display systems, the dome achieves exceptional reliability and durability in demanding environments.
